Nicolas Kiet Quach is a high school student that was raised in the City of Alhambra and is an advocate for educational equity and youth policy who understands the importance of youth involvement.

As a student of public schools in Alhambra, Nicolas has worked to engage youth across the San Gabriel Valley to develop effective community advocates. In December 2020, he was elected as the Freshman Class President with endorsements from teachers, student leaders, and elected officials including Alhambra Mayor Sasha Renee Perez & Councilman Ross Maza. He was later re-elected to two additional terms in May 2021 and April 2022 and elected to the AHS School Site Council in September 2021.


In his work with youth policy, Nicolas was appointed to the City of Alhambra Library Board of Trustees in January 2023 by Councilmember Jeff Maloney. From February 2021 - January 2023, Nicolas served three terms on the City of Alhambra Youth Commission appointed by Mayor Sasha Renee Perez and would later be elected as the youngest President of any city commission in Alhambra history. Under his leadership as the President of the Youth Commission, he unanimously passed a resolution in support of the student-led movement for the creation of a city skate park and led efforts to remove the age requirement for all city commissions. In July 2022, he was hired by Student Voice, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which works with students to advance educational equity nationwide.

With his experience in volunteer mobilization and fieldwork as well as his work in democratic politics, he serves as one of the youngest leaders statewide. In early 2021, Nicolas was selected to serve as LA Deputy Regional Director with CA Young Democrats & Political Director with CA High School Democrats. Following the end of his term, he would soon be elected as Vice Chair of CAHSD & the youngest LA Regional Director in California Young Democrats' century history. In addition, Nicolas was hired in August 2022 as the Field Director for Project Super Bloom, a youth-led PAC that works to elect progressives to the state legislature.

In our community, Nicolas serves as a Library Trustee on the City of Alhambra Library Board of Trustees & Class President at Alhambra High School. In addition to these roles, he currently serves as an Executive Board Member of California High School Democrats & California Young Democrats and as a member of the National Youth Advisory Council of Save the Children U.S.

Nicolas has received commendations on the behalf of the California State Senate & Assembly, City of Los Angeles & Alhambra, and the Alhambra Unified School District for his community work as well as receiving the prestigious honor of 2022 Democrat of the Year by the Los Angeles County Democratic Party.
